Overview: After making the playoffs in 2005 and again in 2007, the Herd took a step back last season and managed just three wins, failing to qualify for the postseason.

The Whitefaces collected just one win their first year in District 4-4A, and will have their hands full against the likes of Abilene Cooper, Big Spring and Frenship.

Senior quarterback Parker Bridwell leads a potent offense capable of putting up big numbers with its passing game, particularly when throwing to his two favorite targets: fellow seniors Jonathan Davis and Chase Yoten.

The biggest concern for Hereford entering the season is the play of its line on both sides of the ball. If opposing defense are able to get past and through the Herd line, it won’t matter how far Bridwell can throw the ball.

Another question mark is the Herd defense, which is returning just four starters and will rely on a number of new faces to fill the void.

Keys to Success: The combination of veteran Jose Uvalie and newcomer Daymien Garcia at running back should provide a solid rushing threat to help keep defense from keying on Bridwell and his receivers, but the most critical part of Hereford’s game according to DeLozier is attention to detail.

If the Herd can properly execute the little things within their systems, there could be a playoff spot waiting for them at the end of the tunnel.
