Fort Elliott returns all of its starters from last season’s team that won its first five games, scoring 106 against Miami in a nondistrict clash.

Running back Colbey Hanson put up some huge numbers on offense, but once district play began, the Cougars struggled in a league that features playoff-tested Valley and Follett.

New coach Jeremy Jenkins arrived in the area from Palestine for his first stint as a head coach.

With better numbers this season and more experience, the Cougars could make some noise in district play if they can stay healthy and Hanson puts up the kind of stats he did a year ago when he rushed for more than 1,500 yards.

Keys To Success: The Cougars have all of their starters back from last season, including speedy running back Colbey Hanson, who is one of the top six-man players in the area. They again need to get off to a good start in nondistrict play in hopes of building some momentum and confidence as they get into a tough district schedule. Hanson must stay healthy, and their returning starters need to improve during the season.
